Course Information

Overview

Get creative with technology through the use of the BBC micro:bit. Learn how to create games, code programs and make images with this pocket sized computer.

Levels

(Note: If you dont know what level to enrol your child start them in Level 1. We will assess them once they start and move them to the level that most suits their abilities)

Level 1
We introduce the basic concepts of the BBC micro:bit in a fun and easy to learn format, this course will have them making images, coding programs and creating games in no time.

Level 2
This level is for those who have used the BBC micro:bit before and have an understanding of software being used. This course will help develop a deeper understanding of Coding by building on previous knowledge. Here we dive in to more complex coding programs, make more detailed games and start using the other aspects of the BBC micro:bit.

Audience

Suitable for ages 7+, and all abilities.

Prerequisite

This course requires no previous knowledge of Coding.

What to bring

Lunch (if attending the full day course), Snacks (no nuts please), and a drink.

Equipment

We provide all the equipment need for this course, yet if you have a BBC micro:bit and laptop of your own you can bring it along.

Holiday Courses:
2 Full Days
Time: 9:00am – 3:00pm

Term Courses:
6 Sessions (1.5 hours per Week)

Outcomes

At the successful conclusion of this course they will have gained a deeper understanding of how you can be creative with technology. This will give them a solid foundation in which they can then continue to develop their coding skills with the move towards learning a more specific coding language, such as Python (in our Hacking Minecraft 1 course).

NB: Courses will run subject to a minimum number attending.
