3D printing is the process of creating an object by laying down layers of materials until the object is formed, making three dimensional solid objects from a digital file. Many businesses and companies are now using this technology in the creation of prototypes that were never before possible. From vases to casts, to houses and food, 3D printers are growing in their uses and the possibilities that they have for the future.
In this course you will get hand-on experience using 3D printers, design a number of object for yourself and then print them off to take home.
With 3D printing you can create amazing objects and bring your designs to life.
(Note: If you dont know what level to enrol your child start them in Level 1. We will assess them once they start and move them to the level that most suits their abilities)
This course is designed for those who have no prior design or 3D printer experience. In this class you will be introduced to 3D printers, shown how to use and create 3D models using free CAD design tools and finally have your work printed out for you to take home and show others. This course focuses on introducing the 3D printers and software and will have you making your own 3D models in no time.
Building on the skills and knowledge gained in the “Introduction to 3D Printing Level 1” course, your child will have the opportunity to further develop their 3D design skills as they create more complex and detailed structures. In this course they will continue developing their understanding through the creation of more detailed models and objects, with the final creations being printed to take home.
The third part of the “Introduction to 3D Printing” courses, this course builds on the skills developed in the previous 2 parts. In this course they will take their 3D design skills to the next level with the introduction of moving parts and mechanics. Their final creation will then be printed off to display the movements of their model.
The final part of the Introduction to 3D Printing courses, here we test their knowledge that they have gained so far by having them create complex 3D models with moving parts and multiple pieces. Using the 3D design skills they have developed in the previous courses, they will have the support and guidance to create a model of their own choosing and design.
